Moral story: “The Missing Nail”
Once upon a time, a rich man was about to set on a journey. His horse
was saddled. His syce found a nail missing from the horse shoe. He pointed it
out to the rich man.
The rich man was in a great hurry to leave. He paid no
attention. He said that he had only a short distance to go. He set out on his
journey. On the way the horse shoe fell off. The rich man did not pay any
attention to it. The horse walked without shoe. Suddenly a thorn pierced the
foot of the horse. The horse started limping. He could not carry the weight of
the rich man. The rich man had to get down from the back of the horse. He had
to walk and lead the horse.
It grew dark. When the rich man was passing through the jungle he
was attacked by the robbers. They made off with his money. The rich man repented
his folly for not fixing the nail on the horse’s shoe in his haste.
Moral:
A stich in time saves nine;
Haste makes waste;
It is no use crying over spilt milk
