A Visit to Hospital

A Visit to Hospital

A hospital is a facility where sick or injured people can receive medical care and nursing. A visit to a hospital is an experience itself. Last Sunday I happened to visit the District Hospital to see my friend who was injured in an accident. I experienced many things there.

As I entered the hospital, I found a number of patients sitting on benches. Some of them were waiting to be called by the doctor. Some of the patients were talking about their diseases. They were talking each other their experiences about hospitals and doctors. Most of them were worried about their health. Women’s outdoor ward was full of women. They were waiting anxiously to tell the doctor about their diseases.

There were heart-rending sights in the medical ward. Some patients were moaning with pain. Some of them were lying in their bed unconscious. The doctor was on his round. He examined the patients in this ward turn by turn. He instructed the nurses on duty. His way of talking was itself very consoling. The nurses were moving from bed to bed to look after the patients. They were helping them in taking their medicines.

After walking a little, I visited the surgical ward. The patients were lying silently on their bed. Some of the patients had their arms and legs bandaged and plastered. A doctor and nurse were attending on them. They were enquiring about the welfare of the patients one by one. He listened very sympathetically to troubles of the patients. The doctor came to my friend and examined him carefully. He gave him some medicines but he refused to take them. The doctor was not angry. He was very polite. He smiled and assured my friend that he would get well soon. The doctor also told me that he was out of danger. I thanked God.

Then I decided to leave the hospital. I had to see many horrible scenes. I passed by the Emergency Ward. The condition of the patients in this ward was pitiable. Some patients were in a serious condition. They were being carried on the stretchers to this ward. The corridors were crowded with patients. There was no doctor in attendance upon them.

The environment of the hospital looked gloomy to me. The doctor and nurses were performing their duties in a good way. They were solving the problems of the patients wisely and carefully. The atmosphere of the hospital was filled with the enchanting smell of air-fresher. The patients were looking happy with the behaviour of the staff.

I then came out of the hospital. I saw some patients lying on the ground in the shade of trees. The sight was unbearable. I trembled with fear and prayed for their recovery. I took my motor-bike and returned home with a heavy heart. I prayed to God to save us from diseases.
